Handheld ScopeMeters exist for one reason a bench oscilloscope cannot match: fully isolated channels that let you measure floating circuits directly, safely, in the field.

Isolation is the point

A bench scope shares a ground reference across channels and with mains earth. Measuring a floating point on a drive output with one requires a differential probe and considerable care. A ScopeMeter's channels are isolated from each other and from ground, so the measurement is simply made.

This is why the 190 Series remains standard equipment for drive, inverter and industrial power troubleshooting despite costing more than a bench scope of similar bandwidth.

Choosing bandwidth and channels

Two channels suffice for most single-phase and component-level work. Four isolated channels are what makes three-phase drive troubleshooting practical, which is why the 190-204 is the most requested configuration.

Battery runtime is a real consideration on field instruments. We measure it rather than quoting the datasheet figure.

Can I use a ScopeMeter as a bench scope?

Yes, though record length and analysis features are limited compared with a benchtop instrument of similar price.

Are the probes special?

Yes. ScopeMeter probes are rated for the instrument's isolation voltage. Standard scope probes are not a safe substitute.

How long do the batteries last?

Original packs in used units are often degraded. We state measured runtime and can supply replacement packs.
