Rotary and pipe lasers are high-turnover site equipment. They are cheap to buy used, easy to verify, and the accessories are usually what determines whether a listing is a bargain or not.

Single grade, dual grade or layout

A self-levelling rotary laser such as the Topcon RL-H5A handles level work — formwork, ceilings, foundations. Dual grade instruments add independent slope on both axes, which is what grading and drainage work requires.

Layout navigators such as the Topcon LN-150 are a different class again: a self-levelling one-person instrument that does interior layout work a total station would otherwise do.

Receivers, remotes and mounts

A rotary laser without its receiver is half a tool, and receivers are brand-specific. Remotes, wall mounts, grade rods and tripods are all frequently separated during a hire-fleet disposal.

We verify self-levelling range, beam accuracy over distance and grade setting, and list every accessory supplied with the unit by name.

Common questions

Do rotary lasers need calibration?

They need periodic accuracy checking, which we perform before listing. Field calibration procedures are documented in the manual for most models.

Is a green beam worth the premium?

Indoors, yes — it is visibly brighter to the eye. Outdoors with a receiver, it makes no practical difference.

Can I use any receiver with any laser?

No. Receivers are matched to the laser's rotation and modulation. Buy them as a pair or confirm compatibility.
